Off-Track Doors & Roller Repair
A door comes out of its tracks from a bumper, a broken cable, or worn rollers. It normally jams part-way, and forcing it from there bends track and panels.

Signs the Door Is Coming Out
Jammed part way
Stuck at an angle, one side further along than the other, with the opener straining against it. Pull the release cord and leave the door where it is.
Grinding or knocking
Steel rollers wear their bearings out and end up riding on the shaft instead of rolling. That noise comes well before the door actually leaves the track.
A gap at the track
A roller sitting outside the track lip, or track pushed open where something hit it. Once one roller is out the next few follow.
What the Repair Involves
Opener off, door secured
Running the opener against a jammed door strips the nylon gear inside it, which is a second repair on top of the one you called about.
Door walked back into the track
Tension comes off, the rollers go back in one at a time and the door is guided back square. Heavier doors take two people.
Track checked and straightened
Bent or spread sections get straightened or replaced and the brackets re-aligned, or the door comes straight back out.
Rollers replaced
Most doors ship with steel rollers on exposed bearings. Nylon rollers with sealed bearings run quieter and do not need oiling, and the door is already open.

Common Questions
Can I put the door back on the track myself?
The spring is still loaded and the door can drop. Putting it back without finding out why it came out means it comes out again.
Why does my garage door keep coming off track?
Something underneath it is out of adjustment: a cable winding unevenly, a door out of balance, worn rollers, or track brackets that have worked loose.
Are nylon rollers worth the upgrade?
If the noise bothers you, or there is a bedroom over the garage, yes. They are noticeably quieter than steel and do not need oiling.
How much does off-track repair cost?
It depends on what got bent on the way out and how many rollers are worth replacing while the door is open. We come out, look at it, and give you the price for free before anything starts.
